Join the 7/30/365 Art Card Project
Here's the plan:
1. Starting in January 2008 (or any time you like), challenge yourself to creating an art card every day for seven days.
You can create your cards in any media, including drawing, painting, collage, photography, fabric, dimensional work, digital art... whatever you like! The cards don't have to match. You can collage one, paint another, sew or glue one, and create the next digitally.
The recommended size is 2 1/2" x 3 1/2". However, even that is optional.
Remember, the idea is to create small art daily as a challenge. This isn't the Sistine Chapel; keep it simple, fast and fun. The masterpiece isn't necessarily the daily pieces, individually, but the completed body of work when you've created lots of these cards.
2. If you're having fun after seven more-or-less daily cards, challenge yourself to create a card a day for a month (30 days).
Remember, there are no "art police" checking up on you. If you miss a day or a week, it's okay to pick up where you left off, or start over if you like.
3. If you enjoy making 30 cards, take the biggest challenge of all. Keep making cards daily for a fully year (365 days).
Registration
- There is no registration. This is a personal challenge. Anyone can participate. If you'd like to
organize a group (at Yahoo Groups, LiveJournal, etc.) and suggest themes for a day or a week, feel free!
(I like to think of my projects as cheerful anarchies. You can do as much or as little as you like. Let me know if you do anything really big with this idea, and I'll link to it.)
Show your cards!
- Join the Flickr group, Daily Art Cards
(http://www.flickr.com/groups/atcs/) and
share photos or scans of your cards.
Store your cards in scrapbooks or use trading card pages to display them at gatherings you attend.
See the latest cards displayed at our 7/30/365 Art Card Project Page.
