Hello!

It's Monday morning. My suitcases--three h-u-g-e checked bags plus my two overstuffed carry-ons--are where I dropped them when I walked in the door, Friday night.

I slept about ten hours last night, after a weekend of generally doing nothing serious. This is good. I always need about a week, sometimes even two or three, to bounce back after a big teaching gig.

If you've ever been in one of my classes, you know how I tend to start each class with a lecture/demo that's the equivalent of the info you'd get from a complete book. And then I spend the rest of the day answering questions, doing spontaneous demos, and jogging (sometimes literally) around (and around and around.. *grin*) the classroom to make sure that everyone's having fun, until the end of the day.

It's a bit crazy, but being basically hyperactive, I do this. And, it's one reason why my classes generally fill to capacity: We may not complete projects in the class, but my workshops are process-oriented, not product-. And I give people far more information & ideas than they'll ever use.

After two or three days of this... I'm ready to collapse! *rueful chuckle*

And, that's sort of what I did this weekend. Okay, I traced one line of HT's family tree back to about 900 A.D. and Rollo (aka "Rolf the Pirate") the first Duke of Normandy. Along the way, I found more royalty, including several kings, and some founding families of early Virginia. Very cool!

That was an overdue birthday present for HT; I'd wanted to do this earlier in the month (his birthday was the 9th), but I didn't have the info that I needed. Now, I've done this and I'm able to exhale deeply and smile. Life is good!

Today, I'm trying to keep my "to do" list v-e-r-y light. In a perfect world, I'd take the rest of the week and do only easy stuff, rebuilding my energy reserves. In about a month, I leave for Seattle, to do all of this again at Artfest.

But, the fact is: I have some great ideas for even better shrines than I'd envisioned, for my Artfest class. So, I'll probably go to Texas Art Supply after I take HT to work today. *sheepish grin*

Other than that, I'm continuing to do what I can to take it easy and restore the physical energy levels.

Also, I've realized that some of my best art ideas come from home decorating shows. Not crafts shows, but actual decorating techniques that I then adapt to art.

Anyway, I'm not online a whole lot yet. Or, at least I'm trying not to work, so I recharge my batteries enough to be full-throttle again starting next week.

Wishing you rich and creative days filled with dazzling inspiration,
