past personal diary entries of an artist - from 19 jul 04

Hi,

Sunday turned out funky and fun. HT caught up on sleep, while I decided to try Movable Type and see if it's even viable for me to install. So far, this may be worth the investment. I'll keep playing with it. The very fact that I could figure out the Perl, navigate the cgi-bin, and even override my FTP defaults to upload the bazillion appropriate files in ASCII... I'm feeling very smug.

If you look at that page, you'll see that I'm not enabling Comments. I thought about it, and people can comment at LJ. Or email me. That's enough.

Last night we watched Bridget Jones' Diary again. Honestly, it was so hot out that I wanted to see the opening & closing scenes with snow! *rueful chuckle* Hey, it helps me to feel a little cooler on a sultry day, so why not!

Today's goal is ten collages created and in eBay, in response to the startling number of emails asking for more collages.

Speaking of email, something is definitely going on at my server. If you're writing to me, I'm probably not getting it. Not even spam. *sigh* I'm too busy making art, to sort it out with my server. Near as I can tell, changing my spam filter to Low (lots of spam possible) instead of Medium (most spam will be filtered) did something Not Very Good.

In the contrived drama category, I'm off her Friends list so I can no longer see what she said, if it's still online. Nor do I care. As far as I'm concerned it's over, and a relief. This finally got me to quit facing daily ambivalence over LJ, and do someting different. (I'm still having probs logging in and see my Friends page.) So, change is necessary.

An apt analogy is probably when I graduated from GeoCities, et al, to my own domain. It wasn't easy at first, but oh the long-term benefits! And honestly, the more I think about it, the GeoCities/LJ analogy works. In both cases, it was fun for awhile. LJ has, in some corners, turned into it's own soap opera, and a self-fulfilling, self-sustaining one at that. Now--for me anyway--it's time for something different... and better.

Tonight, I'm having dinner with [now ex-husband]. And not looking forward to it except that we're going to a good restaurant.

Well, he's been in Houston several times in the past year, and I kept putting him off. The last time, I felt guilty and promised to see him the next time. Which is now.

Anyway, I'll be back online with art later today, after I complete my collages and upload them. It's going to be a very good, creative week!

Wishing you rich and creative days filled with dazzling inspiration,
