Artist Trading Cards--called "ATCs"--are a popular way of swapping art among
artists and friends.
These cards are created by artists, and can vary considerably. Some are individually
handmade; others are photocopied or printed. Some feature dimensional elements, while others
are flat. Swaps are organized featuring ATCs with particular themes, such as colors, holidays,
authors, famous artists, or even Tarot
cards.
Generally, ATCs are about 2.5" x 3.5" to 3" x 5" and printed in color on regular paper. (If they
will be displayed in standard trading card holders, they should be 2.5" x 3.5" or less.)
They are swapped in person
at art events and gatherings, and by mail in organized and informal swaps such as
Here are a few of my ATCs from the past five years, in various sizes. Click on any one to see it larger. Some
are just images, others are pages with some backstory.
