Lighter sky - Trees by the Brook
At this time, we lived in townhouse condos. Plenty of narrow streets and parking lots, but not much landscape. However, if I stood at my front door and narrowed my vision just so, I could focus on the trees and the brook at the end of our driveway/unit. And it was very pretty, a refreshing change after the vistas from our first Illinois house. So I painted the scene a few times, just to see if I could work up the inspiration to make this my new favorite landscape, replacing our backyard in New Hampshire.
This is a disappointingly small area of a 10"x20" canvas, painted several days after my other Illinois trees painting. The sky is most of the canvas, and has some wonderful colors... which look like nothing, scanned, unless I include enough of the trees for the painting to make sense...and then I can't include so much of the sky! (Catch-22! *grin*)
Anyway, this one is obviously a more realistic representation than what I usually do, as you can tell by the white indications of tree trunk. This is one of my son's favorite paintings, and so it will be his when he grows up and has his own house.
