Aisling's Peach-colored Sunrise
To many people, I may seem like someone who'd prefer acrylic paints and wild, brilliant colors. However, I choose to paint with oils usually. I like the softer, more natural colors that I can easily achieve with oils. The only time I use acrylics, is when I have a particular need for a fast-drying paint, and Japan drier won't work quickly enough with my oils.
This soft-colored painting is one of my favorites, and typical of the soft colors I like.
I painted this 9"x12" sketch when the light was that warm and cozy peach color, like out of a Rembrandt painting, where everything glows with "old" light. The shadows were so soft, they were barely there, but there was an inner radiance to the scene, and I was delighted to steal a bit of it for my sketch.
