This is one of my surprising paintings.
Ordinarily, I can't stand symmetrical pieces. They're too predictable and boring.
When I look at this canvas, I still can "see" the sunrise that inspired this oil sketch.
The colors in the backyard were like a ribbon on that mid-autumn morning...repeating yellows and reds across the trees. The sky was one of those incredible turquoise shades with perfect white clouds, and the ground reflected the same blues and whites.
It was simply amazing. It was as if I could have painted this with just three colors (red, yellow, blue) plus black and white.
