I've done it myself. I've mistaken things that I'm good at, for things that I love. I've allowed the urgings of others, and perhaps the lure of money, to convince me to strive in fields where I have talent but little joy. I take pride in the product, but the process drains me of energy and enthusiasm. My chatter about "my work" sounds hollow, even to me.
What I love is art. Sometimes I'm delighted with the product, but I'm always happy with the process, even when it's challenging.
I'm an artist. You're an artist. Accept it, live it, and share your art with the world.
