When you want more drama in your art, the thing to do is to eliminate the in-between shades and tones, and go for contrast. Put the chrome next to the driftwood, or the moon in a midnight blue sky. Position yellow next to purple, or turquoise next to peach.
And, when you want the boyfriend to move out, tell him you hate his favorite team, or that you threw out his lucky socks.
It's really that simple.
