Life is often lived on autopilot. Sometimes, it's an efficient way to take care of mundane details, like changing the oil in the car, or doing the laundry.
However, when we're tired, overwhelmed, or otherwise stressed, sometimes we dump everything into the autopilot mode.
Before you know it, you're watching Jerry Springer and ordering things from infomercials. *grin*
It's important to take a break. In the old days, vacations served this purpose. A month by the lake, or a full summer in Bar Harbor would break the routine. Upon return home, people could consciously choose how their daily routines.
If you don't have a vacation in the near future, perhaps it's time to consciously alter your schedule to include whatever represents freedom to you. A good starting point might be the "artist dates" recommended in The Artist's Way, by Julia Cameron.
The point is, you should consciously choose to practice freedom, joy, creativity, and whatever else restores your spirit and gives you a sense of vitality.
It takes 21 days to form (or break) and habit. Start building positive habits now, including the celebration of freedom!
